A police clearance certificate is a certificate stating whether any criminal offenses are recorded against the applicant.
It is most often required for people who need confirmation of their criminal status for emigration purposes or for working abroad.
How Long does it take
The SAPS’s Criminal Record Centre in Pretoria request 14 working days to issue a police clearance certificate, however they are currently experiencing a backlog of 52000 applications resulting in a wait of between 3 and 6 months

What documents do I need
All we require from you is a copy of your Identity book and a set of ink finger prints which can be taken at the police station for only R96.
If you are abroad you can do it at the local Police station, however if they do not offer ink prints but only electronic prints you will need to get your finger prints taken at the South African Embassy.
