UK Ancestry Visas
You can apply for a UK Ancestral visa if you:
Are a Commonwealth citizen
Are applying from outside the UK
Are able to prove that one of your grandparents was born in the UK
Are able and planning to work in the UK
The Visa can be applied for 3 months before your proposed date of travel and a decision will be reached within 3 weeks.
With an UK Ancestry Visa one can live and work in the UK for 5 years and can be accompanied by family members.
You must prove that you:
Are 17 or over
Have enough money without help from public funds to support and house yourself and any dependents
can and plan to work in the UK
When you apply you’ll need to provide:
A current passport
Bank statements to show you’ve enough money to support yourself
Your tuberculosis test results
You’ll need to have a blank page in your passport on which to put the visa.
Ancestral documents:
You’ll also need to provide:
Your full birth certificate
Your marriage certificate or civil partnership registration document if your husband, wife or civil partner wants to join you
The full birth certificates of the parent and grandparent your ancestry claim is based on
marriage certificates for your parents and grandparents and legal adoption papers if you or your parents are adopted
The Visa costs £516 and there is a NHS fee of £3144 per applicant payable upfront upon lodging of the Visa.
